This Privacy Policy describes how Courtpals.com (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Notice by Courtpals application (“Service”). This Privacy Policy is part of and subject to our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
The Service collects personal information necessary to prepare and mail your California government tort claim, including:
- Account Information: your email address and password (passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text)
- Claimant Information: your name, mailing address, and notice address
- Claim Details: incident date, location, description, injury or damage description, claim amount, and related information
- Payment Information: processed securely through Stripe, Inc. We do not store, access, or have visibility into your credit card number or payment credentials
- Electronic Signature: your drawn or typed signature used to sign the claim document
- Usage Data: technical information about how you interact with the Service, collected automatically for error monitoring and improvement
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively for:
- Preparing your government tort claim document
- Mailing your claim to the designated government entity via USPS first-class mail
- Providing claim status and tracking information to you
- Processing your payment
- Communicating with you about your claim or the Service
- Improving the Service and monitoring for errors
We do not use your information for marketing purposes or to build advertising profiles.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share your information only as necessary to provide the Service:
- Lob, Inc. — for printing and mailing your claim (claim content and recipient address only)
- Stripe, Inc. — for processing your payment (payment information only)
- OpenAI, Inc. — for address lookup (entity name only — no personal claimant information is sent to OpenAI)
- Supabase, Inc. — for secure data storage and authentication
- Sentry — for error monitoring (technical error data only, no personal claim information)
4. Data Security
Your information is stored using industry-standard encryption and access controls provided by Supabase. Specifically:
- Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Data is encrypted at rest
- Access to your claim data is restricted to you (via your authenticated account) and to Service administrators for operational purposes only
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure that each user can only access their own data
- Passwords are securely hashed by Supabase Auth and never stored in plain text
5. Data Retention
Your claim data is retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and operational purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support@courtpals.com.
6. Cookies
The Service uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your claim data

8. Changes to This Policy
